China’s National Health Commission on Jan. 30 announced 38 more deaths from the Wuhan virus in the Hubei province, bringing the death toll up to 170.

A total of 162 of those deaths were in the Hubei province, with the same province seeing over 4,586 confirmed cases.

In total, 7,711 confirmed novel coronavirus cases is in the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, with 170 dead and 128 recovered patients.

This represents a significant jump from just 10 days ago, Jan. 20, when the number of confirmed cases stood at just under 300, while the death toll was three victims.

Other countries

The Middle East just saw its first confirmed case of Wuhan virus.

Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore have all had at least 10 confirmed cases.

Japan also saw their first Japanese confirmed case: A tour bus driver who had been ferrying around tourists from Wuhan.

Singapore just confirmed its eight, ninth, and 10th cases on Jan. 29.
