Cambodia confirms 1st case of Wuhan virus

The 60-year-old arrived in Cambodia on Jan. 23.

Cambodia has confirmed its first case of the Wuhan novel coronavirus, Health Minister Mam Bunheng announced on Jan 27.

First confirmed case in Cambodia

It was reported that the patient is a Chinese national in the coastal city of Sihanoukville.

A Cambodian news outlet, VOD News, updated that the man infected with the coronavirus is a 60-year-old.

He flew from Wuhan to Cambodia on Jan. 23.

He subsequently developed a fever and a runny nose on Jan. 25, VOD News updated.

 

Update on virus outbreak

Almost all of the 31 provinces in China have confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

The latest update on Jan. 27 reveals that the total number of confirmed cases has increased to over 2,800 and the death toll is currently at 81.

A majority of the confirmed cases and deaths were reported in Wuhan, where the virus is believed to have originated from.

Wuhan currently has 698 confirmed cases and 63 death cases.

No death cases have been reported outside of China but the virus has spread to 16 areas outside of mainland China.

A total of 16 areas outside mainland China have been affected.

This includes Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, France, Nepal, Australia, and Cambodia.
