6 cars & 2 motorcycles involved in AYE chain collision, both motorcyclists conveyed to hospital

An accident occurred on the Ayer Rajah Expressway on Jan. 30, 2020, involving quite a number of vehicles.

Six cars and two motorcycles

Photos showing a vehicle pile-up was posted to Facebook group SG Road Vigilante on Jan. 30.

A chain collision of six cars can be seen in the rightmost lane, with a damaged motorcycle at the end.

Singapore police told Mothership that they were alerted to the incident at 9:45am.

The pile-up occurred on the AYE towards the CTE, after Portsdown Avenue exit.

Both male riders, aged 28 and 31, were subsequently conveyed conscious to the National University Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Tailgating?

It is uncertain how exactly the accident occurred.

However, several people in the comments of the post speculate that it was a result of vehicles tailgating each other.
