Butterfly swimmer rage quit after cap and goggles came loose
During the relay, the swimmers from Philippines had consistently held onto the third spot.
They overtook the Indonesian team to trail behind Singapore as Jarod Hatch, the Philippines butterfly swimmer plunged in 2.65 seconds after Schooling.
However, Hatch abruptly stopped in the middle of the race, pulling off his swimming cap and goggles.
The swimmer looked visibly furious as he threw his cap, after he accidentally employed a breaststroke kick to regain momentum, which likely disqualified his team from the race.
According to FINA rules, breaststroke kicking movements are not permitted when swimming with the butterfly stroke.
