A 24-year-old lady named Xiao Jing from Henan province in China had prepared a surprise wedding proposal for her boyfriend, Xiao Ke, on Dec. 11, 2019.

Aside from having the financial means to do so, Xiao Jing chose to propose because she was thankful for her boyfriend who had been taking care of her over the past year.

Surprise proposal on first-year anniversary

Xiao Jing said that she found an excuse to ask her boyfriend out to the museum where they first met a year ago.

The boyfriend was unaware of the proposal and with the support of friends and family, Xiao Jing prepared a bouquet of flowers that also contained a title deed and a BMW car key.

The day that she proposed also marked the first year anniversary of their relationship.

Dressed in a white wedding gown, Xiao Jing walked down the corridor with a bouquet and proposed to Xiao Ke when he arrived.

She told Xiao Ke, "This is what I prepared, a title deed and a car. Whether or not you will use them, I want to be with you. Will you marry me?".

While the moment felt slightly surreal to Xiao Ke, he accepted the proposal without hesitation.

While Xiao Jing teased Xiao Ke that she can support him in the future, Xiao Ke promised to work hard in the future.

"With regard to material possessions, I'm able to provide it, so that's okay,"  Xiao Jing said, adding that she's confident that Xiao Ke will able to provide even better things in the future.

She added that the couple had gotten the blessings from both families and that they got together because of love and not material needs.
