A man in China was satisfying his pig intestines craving when he discovered that one of the offal pieces was not like the others.
Discovered excrement in pig intestine
According to PearVideo, the customer, who was only identified as Wang, went to a restaurant called Ah Xiang Rice Noodles in a mall in Changchun, Jilin province.
He ordered a pot of rice noodles with pig intestines, but one piece was a lot tougher to chew.
Wang alerted a waiter at the restaurant and to his horror, the staff found pieces of excrement in the meal.
The restaurant's manager said that they will take full responsibility for the hygiene lapse as their supplier’s staff was the one who failed to clean the intestine properly.
Demanded higher compensation that was was offered
South China Morning Post reported that Wang was offered a compensation of 500 yuan (S$96), which was 10 times the value of the meal.
However, Wang, according to SCMP, refused to take the offer and demanded a higher compensation of 30,000 yuan (S$5,800) instead.
He told PearVideo:
“I’d like to invite their boss to come over and have a try— I can pay him a few hundred yuan for every piece of excrement he eats.
I want an apology. And if you do apologise, you should apologise to all consumers nationwide."
The supplier, a small pork business in eastern China, said that it could not afford the full 30,000 yuan.
It added that the business was already suffering due to an African swine fever epidemic that killed most of China’s hogs.
The restaurant manager said via PearVideo:
“This year, pork prices have been so high that we have barely made any profits.
Under such circumstances, such a sum of compensation would be a big blow to a small business.”
