Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh shared his thoughts on the PMD issue in a Facebook post on Nov. 13.

Pritam's post, which emphasised the importance of opposition unity in Singapore, said:

"Different parties and individuals have different philosophies, both ideologically and in terms of how we engage the issues of the day."

He also acknowledged that the PMD issue is a "difficult matter", and brought up two different sides to the issue:

PMD-related injuries

First, he brought up the case of PMD-related casualties.

A few weeks ago, Pritam and Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap visited Mdm Ong at Changi General Hospital.

The elderly Ong was hit by a PMD on a shared path in Aljunied GRC, and he noted that her family was "distraught".

In the course of their work, Pritam also said that AHTC MPs and councillors have met with residents who have suffered from PMD-related injuries.

Food delivery business provides S'poreans with jobs

However, Pritam also acknowledged that the food delivery business has provided many Singaporeans with work.

This is especially so for the low-income, and those who supplement their income with on-demand work.

"PMD food delivery is an honest job," he said.

And often, opportunities provided by food delivery companies play a crucial role in helping to support many families.

Regulations need to be fine-tuned

Pritam concluded by saying that he believes that PMDs will make a comeback in Singapore.

This is provided that the regulations are fine-tuned, and the necessary infrastructure also "catches up".

However, he admitted that infrastructural changes are easier said than done.
