Woman dies after pushing 2-year-old toddler away before being hit by car at Lentor Ave

A 30-year-old woman pedestrian died after a car accident along Lentor Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 5. 

According to Shin Min Daily News, the woman was crossing the road while pushing a two-year-old toddler in a stroller when the accident happened. 

She managed to push the child out of the way, the paper said, before being hit by the car.

Investigations are ongoing, police said.

Driver arrested

The police said a 44-year-old man was arrested for careless driving causing death.

The police were alerted to the accident at 10.54am on Tuesday.

What happened

The police said the accident involved a car and two pedestrians along Lentor Avenue towards Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

The woman was unconscious after the accident and taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

She later passed away at the hospital due to her injuries.

The two-year-old boy was conveyed conscious to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force also said on Tuesday that it had responded to the accident.
