Man allegedly taking upskirt videos at Little India dies after being held by members of public

The police attempted to perform CPR to revive him but failed.

A man who had allegedly insulted the modesty of a woman was found dead by police after being taken down by members of the public.

Police were first alerted to an incident along Niven Road on Nov. 1, 2019, at around 12:45pm.

The 46-year-old man, who has not been identified, had allegedly been taking upskirt videos of a woman at Little India MRT station, according to a police statement.

The man was chased by and then detained by five members of the public. According to Shin Min Daily News, he unexpectedly lost consciousness in the process.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found the man motionless and with no pulse.

Police officers attempted to revive him by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the man before Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics arrived.

Unfortunately, he was subsequently pronounced dead by a SCDF paramedic.

A photo posted to Facebook by Shin Min Daily News and taken by one of their readers showed the aftermath of the incident.

Five police officers can be seen standing near the corridor of the shophouse along the road, with what appears to be the alleged suspect lying on the floor, obscured by a stretcher.

Police investigations are currently ongoing, and the case has been classified as an unnatural death.
