One man in Singapore recently took to Facebook to share an alleged encounter involving a young delivery rider and some pedestrians.

"Zipped past" them, alleged near-miss

In his Facebook post, he noted that he was just about to cross a slip road when an e-scooter rider "zipped past (his) left".

The rider then allegedly swerved to narrowly avoid a mother and baby, who was standing on the opposite side of the road.

The rider apparently braked and stopped, then "stared at the both of (them)".

According to the post, the mother and child were "shocked" but unharmed.

Mothership understands that the incident took place at Sembawang Alley, in between Sun Plaza and Sembawang MRT station.

This is the approximate location of the incident, which happened at around 3pm on Nov. 6:

Mothership understands from the person who posted on Facebook that the rider had been on a footpath before crossing the road.

It is also believed that the PMD rider was a Foodpanda deliveryman.

Mothership has reached out to Foodpanda for comment.

Delivery rider allegedly unapologetic

In response to the incident, the Facebook post claimed that the PMD rider did not offer an apology.

The rider also allegedly said, "I almost fell!" and asked them "What's your problem?"

He also took out some tools, presumably to fix his scooter and ensure that it was in order.

The Facebook post also stated that the PMD rider then stepped back on and went on his way.

Citing selfishness and an entitled attitude, he said that it "is just the kind of mindset that needs to stop on this little island of ours".

He added that, in his view, the footpath ban is only a "short-term measure to curb the problem" as long as this "kind of mindset still sticks".
