According to another reader, two people were seen hanging from the ledge of their 13th floor.

And here's a video of the fire, taken from the foot of the block.

Here is what an eyewitness claims to have witnessed:

"He was shouting "Help help help save me, it's very hot! My mother is dying, help! I am going to jump" very loudly at around 4.30am... police were called immediately after I heard his shout."

Here's another video uploaded by Bukit Batok SMC MP Murali Pillai.

Here is the SCDF post on the incident.

"SCDF firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets had to conduct forced entry to gain access into the burning unit. Firefighters rescued a woman in her 60's from the toilet. The raging fire, which involved contents of the unit, was extinguished with two water jets.

A man in his 60's and another man in his 30's were found standing on the ledge outside the kitchen's window. A vast accumulation of items in the kitchen limited the working space for the firefighters. This, coupled with the two men being highly exhausted, prevented the firefighters from pulling them safely into the unit.

A Combined Platform Ladder 60m (CPL60) was thus deployed to conduct aerial rescue. From within the unit, firefighters used ropes to secure the two men. Thereafter, rescuers from SCDF's elite Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) rapelled from the unit above and brought the two men into the CPL60's rescue cage. The men were brought down to the ground floor and were attended to by SCDF paramedics.

The three casualties were conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation."

According to SCDF:

"The DART Specialist is skilled in urban search and rescue, prolonged fire fighting operations, height and confined space operations, road traffic and industrial accidents and water rescue."

Kudos.
