S'porean reported missing while diving off Pulau Sangiang in Indonesia

Three Chinese nationals also went missing on the same day.

A Singaporean has been reported missing while diving off Pulau Sangiang in Indonesia's Banten province last Sunday, Nov. 3.

According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a press release dated Nov. 5, the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta has been in contact with the family of the missing Singaporean.

The embassy has also been liaising closely with the Indonesian authorities, who are coordinating search and rescue operations, MFA added.

In addition, a consular officer from the embassy is on the ground to provide assistance and close support.

MFA said it and the embassy will continue to render consular assistance to the family of the missing Singaporean.

Three Chinese missing

Three Chinese nationals were also reported missing on the same day while diving at Pulau Sangiang, Suara reported.

They were in a group of seven.

The other four were reported safe.

Members of the Indonesian Navy have been deployed for search and rescue operations, which are still ongoing.
