Over 760 warnings have been issued to PMD riders since the device was banned on footpaths on Nov. 5, 2019.
The number was announced in a Facebook post by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Nov. 10.
Carrying out enforcement operations at various locations
According to the post, enforcement operations were carried out at multiple locations such as Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Jurong and Punggol.
Officers also educated the public on the paths that their devices can be used on.
For those who are unclear, here's a chart of where different devices can be used.
LTA added, "While e-scooters are now banned from footpaths, riders can continue to use their personal mobility aids (PMAs) and bicycles on footpaths."
Commenters point LTA towards more locations
Many commenters reacted to the post by pointing LTA towards locations where they have seen PMD users flouting the rules.
Over 100 warnings issued on first day of ban
The first day of the ban alone saw over 100 warnings issued.
PMD users have been given a deadline of Dec. 31, 2019, to adjust to the ban, following which LTA will take a “zero-tolerance approach”.
The transport authority warned that offenders will be liable to a fine of up to S$2000 and/or jailed up to three months.
