The theme for the upcoming festival is "Invisible Cities", inspired by Italo Calvino's work in postmodern literature.

1. Art Installations

Festival-goers can expect art installations such as Optical Maze at the Padang, which takes inspiration from Anthony Poon's artwork.

The space is a colourful pavilion by day and a maze with labyrinthine walkways that change with the beat of lights at night.

Another installation - Floating City - is suspended at the National Gallery's Padang Atrium, and visualises a dream-like city where visitors can walk through clusters of ethereal towers from the level three sky bridge.

Other installations include Shadows of Dust and Clouds at the Asian Civilisations Museum, where a mirror reveals hidden messages at night, while Light Lane at Esplanade Park transports visitors to invisible 'cities' with whimsical gobo shadows in the day and colourful bike lanes at night.

2. Art experiences

There will be a live-action large-scale escape game experience - True Lies: Secrets of the Gallery - at the National Gallery on Fridays and Saturdays across the two weeks.

Participants will work in teams to beat the clock to uncover the mysteries and secrets behind its art collection and the architecture of the Former Supreme Court.

At Art Skins on Monuments, visitors can interact with and paint the City Hall facade with customisable city-life objects.

While navigating around Between Two Worlds at the Esplanade Park, visitors can also peer into a 'new' Civic District with the play of mirrors and reflections.

They can also play with the large-scale inflatable Five Stones at Empress Place.

3. Performances and food street

For quality bonding time, visitors can explore Art x Social, a festival where there will be art, music, food and drinks.

From Jan. 10 - 11 and Jan. 17 - 18, the roads in the Civic District will be closed to create a food street.
