According to NHK, the current station, which was built in 1924, will be torn down after the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

The reason for this is due to the current structure being not "sufficiently fire resistant".

Fans of the European-style train station might be relieved to hear that a newer station built adjacent to it.

According to SoraNews, the new station will use fire-resistant materials to recreate the European look as much as possible.

SoraNews, however, noted that concept art for the new building doesn't look quite the same.
