You might have seen a series of photos circulating online, featuring a rather oddly-coloured dog.
The images, posted by one Shazreen Othuman on Nov. 11, 2019, showed a stray dog with its fur dyed a striking green.
The dog had apparently been spotted in Subang Bestari, Malaysia, and Othuman wondered in his caption how the dog had come to be smeared in such an unnatural colour.
He also implied that someone must have chosen this dog as a vulnerable target for mischief.
The post has since gone viral, racking up over 1,400 shares and 900 likes. Many in the comments expressed anger and sympathy towards the "abused" dog.
Dog apparently just rolled in green powder
However, a recent update on Nov.16 appears to have shed more light on the incident.
A Facebook post by MunMun Furry Sanctuary revealed that the dog, who they had nicknamed Mr. Greeny, was "in safe hand[s] now".
The sanctuary reassured netizens that the dog was not the victim of abuse.
They instead stated that the dog had rolled over green powder or dye dumped at a dump site, which covered its entire body in green.
The sanctuary said that the green dye had been washed off with shampoo and a subsequent photo they posted showed a clean and freshly-washed doggo, its coat returned back to its normal white and brown colour.
They also said that Mr. Greeny was healthy and well-fed by construction workers at the site.

Some doubtful
However, some Facebook users, Othuman included, appeared sceptical of the revelation.
Othuman thanked those who had rescued the dog and given it a shower. However, he expressed his belief that there was a coverup involved and that the organisation was "putting the blame" on the dog.
The dog could not have managed to cover its entire body so evenly with paint, he said. Othuman apparently even visited the factory site where the dog was found, and allegedly found the entire place cleaned.
He then ended off his comment by urging everyone to keep the factory environment clean and safe.
