Angelo Anwyll Goh Hao-Yi previously attempted to engage girls for sex using several fake male profiles but did not receive any reply.
Undeterred, the 34-year-old sales engineer created a fake Facebook account as a teenage social escort to coax underaged girls into having paid sex with "clients" who was in fact, himself.
Goh, a father of three, sought out them out on Facebook and befriended them if he liked their looks.
Goh used photographs that he had saved from an acquaintance's public Facebook profile to make his profile seem more real.
The scheme started sometime before May 2016, with Goh linking his Facebook account to a fake Instagram account and WeChat account.
According to court documents, his scheme claimed eight victims aged between 13 to 17 over a two-year period.
On Nov 7, Angelo was sentenced to four years and 10 months' jail.
Offered underaged girls paid sex
After befriending these underaged girls on Facebook, Goh would message them and offer them a job of working as a part time girlfriend or social escort for around S$100 to S$200 per hour.
If a girl was not willing, Goh would try to persuade her by assuring her that she only accepted young, non-ugly and rich clients who underwent regular health checks.
Goh persuaded the girl that rude and abusive clients would be banned, court documents showed.
Once a girl agreed, Goh would arrange for her to meet a "client", who was actually Goh himself.
The compensation each girl received was S$60 for penile-vaginal penetration, S$30 for oral sex and S$100 for both acts.
Anal sex also incurred additional payments.
If a girl wore a school uniform during the meet-up, she would get an additional S$10.
If she agreed to be filmed, she would get an additional S$20.
In addition, Goh had asked the girls to introduce their friends to him and told them not to tell anyone else about this job.
Altogether, Goh met these girls in his car, at hotels and at his condominium when nobody else was at home.
Prosecutor sought a longer jail time
On April 2, 2018, Goh was arrested and found to have 23 video files of obscene films as well as 24 videos without a valid certificate on his laptop and mobile phones.
He later confessed to seven counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 16, two counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 14, one count of commercial sex with a minor under 18 and one count of making an obscene film.
15 other charges of a similar nature were also considered during his sentencing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Pei Wei had argued for 60 months' of jail time, while Goh's lawyer, Daniel Atticus Xu, had asked for 48 months' jail instead.
Yahoo News reported that Goh teared as he was sentenced.
Goh is currently out on a bail to spend time with his three young children and will serve his sentence on Nov. 14, 2019.
