The grand final of Star Search is happening tonight (Nov. 3).
For the uninitiated, Star Search is a Chinese television show organised by Mediacorp to scout for Chinese-speaking artistes.
In a Facebook post by Mediacorp Channel 8, they shared then-and-now photos of some of their artistes, including some from the very first Star Search in 1988.

Zoe Tay
Zoe Tay was the champion of the very first Star Search 1988, and was subsequently offered a three-year contract.

Jazreel Low
Low was also part of Star Search 1988, where she emerged as second runner-up.
She eventually left showbiz in 1994, and now runs her own business.

Chen Hanwei
Tan Hung Wee, better known as Chen Hanwei, is a Malaysian actor who is based in Singapore.
He took part in Star Search in 1988, and first appeared on television that year as well.

Cassandra See
See won "Most Charismatic" in Star Search 1990.
She spent around a decade as an actress before leaving showbiz in 2000.

Lina Ng
Ng was the first runner-up in Star Search 1993, where she competed against Ann Kok and Ivy Lee.
Ng was a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1993 to 2004, and currently films on an ad-hoc basis.

Aileen Tan
Tan was the first runner-up for Star Search 1988, which was won by Zoe Tay that year.
Tan also bagged the "Most Photogenic" award during that Star Search.

Brandon Wong
Wong took part in Star Search in 1995.
He entered showbiz after being subsequently offered a contract by Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS).

Christopher Lee
Lee was the male first runner-up in Star Search 1995, which was won by Ix Shen.
Two years later in 1997, he won Best Actor for his role in The Price of Peace.

Vivian Lai
Lai was the overall female champion for Star Search 1999.
Her TV debut was in 2000, where she played a supporting role in Knotty Laisons.

Qi Yuwu
Qi was the Guangdong (China) Male Champion for Star Search 1999.
The overall male champion for that year was Jeff Wang.

Felicia Chin
Chin was the overall female champion for Star Search 2003.
In 2006, she was cast as the main lead for The Beginning.

Ma was the fourth runner-up in Star Search 2010.

Tan was the third runner-up in Star Search 2010.
