Canberra MRT station opening on Nov. 2, 2019

It will cut travelling time to Orchard and Jurong East by up to 10 minutes.

Canberra MRT station is scheduled to open tomorrow (Nov. 2).

The new station is located between Yishun and Sembawang, and is the second station to be built on an existing track.

The first was Dover MRT station on the East West Line (EWL) back in 2001.

Some 17,000 households living in Sembawang and Yishun will be within a 10-minute walk to this new Canberra MRT station.

The reminder of the opening was publicised by the Land Transport Authority on Oct. 10:

Canberra MRT station will reduce travelling time to the city and Jurong East by up to 10 minutes.

Both Jurong East and Orchard will be 10 stops away.

Canberra MRT station will also have the following amenities:

• Five entrances

• 500 bicycle parking lots

• Sheltered walkways to bus stops

• A link bridge

LTA closed up to five North South Line MRT stations over the Vesak Day weekend from May 18 to 20, 2019 to facilitate the construction of the crossover track.
