One of a kind.

Wong Lock Seng passed away in September 2019. He was 72.

Seng was most famous for his unassuming kopi stall at Amoy Street, which he and his wife relocated to in 1997.

It served traditional home-made kaya on charcoal-toasted bread.

It is lauded for its simplicity, affordability and deliciousness, which you can read more about that here.

It was even featured by Michellin Guide.

Here are some mouth-watering pictures of their kaya toast.

Here's a really good video by Old Grandfather Story featuring Seng.

And here's a touching tribute to Seng.
In it, long-time patron Ng Kwok Hua talked about how Seng had, after his cancer diagnosis, imparted the art of brewing coffee and preparing toasts to his son.

His wife also had to constantly reassure him that the stall would be in good hands.

You can read the post here as well.

Rest in peace.
