Two Malaysian women tried to smuggle 18 bottles of assorted e-cigarette juices, 347 pods of e-cigarette juices, eight pieces of e-cigarette devices and six sets of vape kits into Singapore on Oct. 14.
Items found in baby seat & stroller
In a Facebook post by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on Oct. 17, it said that the two women were caught after officers found the driver's behaviour suspicious.
Upon further checks, the prohibited items were found hidden in a baby car seat and a baby stroller.Some of the items were also found under the driver seat and wrapped in spare clothing.
ICA stated that the case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
E-cigarette offences
According to HSA, vaporisers such as e-cigarettes, e-pipes, e-cigars and the like are prohibited under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act in Singapore.
It is also an offence to import, distribute, sell or offer for sale any of the products.
Those convicted of selling vapes and related paraphernalia can be jailed for up to six months, or fined up to $10,000, or both.
