The throwaway culture has been a perennial issue in Singapore, although it has recently seized public attention.
Many individuals and companies are ramping up efforts to reduce waste and become more eco-conscious, using means such as cutting down the use of straws and increasing recycling.
In a somewhat ironic twist, retailers are also riding on the trend of going green to sell more things.
Recycling and trash bin bags on sale
Here's one on Lazada selling chain bags that look like recycling and trash bins.
The small container bags come in four colours and are priced from S$6.85 each after discount.
The bag probably cannot carry many items as it is only slightly bigger than the size of a poker card.
The four bags can also be chained together in a line, which is currently selling at S$16.78:
With "Thank you" as the fashion logo, these bags are described as novel-looking.
While it seems not very practical, you can use this to limit the amount of waste you use whenever you go out if you really like it.
However, to really save the Earth, you probably should not get it if you don't need it.
