Shiba Inus, cats, pigeons & strays fend for themselves as Typhoon Hagibis hits Japan

Some are fortunate enough to be taken in by kind souls.

Typhoon Hagibis is probably the strongest typhoon that has hit Japan since 1958.

Millions of people in various parts of Japan were asked to evacuate as the storm is expected to bring unexpected floods and rainfall.

Here's a summary of what happened after the typhoon struck Japan on Oct. 12:

The toll on humans is obvious, but animals have not been spared from the disaster either.

Many strays and lost animals are left to fend for themselves as harsh weather conditions have been unleashed.

Some were lucky to have found places to rest safely.

One cat was lucky to have found its way to a cat lover's house in the storm.

It then unceremoniously left multiple paw prints behind as it entered the house, joining nine other cats in the house.

No one would have been able to say no to this little one.

And a goat was tied to a tent at Tamashi, Tokyo:

According to the tweets, the goat made it through the storm eventually.

Here are some pigeons ready to be evacuated at Shinjuku in Tokyo.

Separately, this pigeon hiding in a corner of a building looks pretty traumatised by the extreme weather:

Found in a car park:

There were many lost Shiba Inus on the streets too.

Here's a white and brown one that was found at Nagoya in Aichi prefecture:
