Man, 58, arrested for slashing another man with fruit knife at Tanglin Halt

A 58-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in an armed robbery case.

Slashing and robbing another man

Police said in a statement that they received a report of the incident on Sunday (Oct. 13) at around 10:40pm.

The suspect had slashed another man with a fruit knife before robbing him of his mobile phone.

The incident happened along Tanglin Halt Road.

Police added that through ground enquiries and images from police cameras, officers from the Clementi Police Division were able to identify the man.

He was arrested on the same day.

Suspect charged in court

The man was charged in court on Tuesday (Oct. 15) with armed robbery with hurt.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of between five and 20 years, and caning with at least 12 strokes.

However, since the suspect is above 50 years old, he cannot be caned as stated under the Criminal Procedure Code.
