Japan's Ministry of Finance recently released new designs for their banknotes that will circulate from 2024.
According to SoraNews, these new notes will feature the Tokyo Station and the Great Wave off Kanagawa.
This inspired Japanese illustrator and manga artist Ponkichi to come up with his own 500 yen (S$6.36) banknotes featuring five shiba inus:
柴犬の紙幣があったらという事で柴犬紙幣に続き新たに豆柴紙幣を描きました。

500円札ですので豆柴ちゃんを5匹。あと日本固有種のアカヒゲ3匹とアセビやハコネウツギなどもデザインに入れて描き上げました。

In case you can't see:
The artist uses mame shiba inus, which are miniature versions of the dog.
There are also three domestic Japanese domestic birds in the design.
Ponkichi's tweet has since received over 10,000 retweets and 24,000 likes.
Japan doesn't have banknotes in 500 yen denominations though, as it's smallest note is valued at 1,000 yen.
Although it is not legal tender, the design has gotten so popular that it now has its own line of merchandise, which you can get on an online shop and Amazon Japan.
Items include pouches, smartphone cases, memo pads, and even towels.
This is not first time he has created such designs, either. Earlier in May, the artist featured a larger shiba inu for a 1,000 yen banknote, where it also spun off into various merchandise:
