On the morning of Oct. 1, commuters travelling on Punggol and Sengkang LRTs had their journey disrupted due to a system fault.
Stuck on train in Sengkang West Loop
A passenger on a Sengkang West Loop train, Mustafa Zainudin, took a video of the incident and posted it on his Facebook page.
He was stuck in the train carriage for over two hours.
According to The Straits Times, Mustafa, 50, was travelling to work when the train he was in stopped between Renjong and Sengkang LRT stations.He told ST that he had boarded the train at Renjong station at 5:35am and eventually alighted at Sengkang station at about 7:55am.
He added that the train was dark and the air-conditioning was cut off for a while.
Mustafa had to return home and take leave from work since he was late.
System Fault
Public transport operator SBS Transit said services on the Sengkang and Punggol LRT lines were stalled at 5:40am due to a system fault, reported ST.
Tammy Tan, SBS Transit's senior vice-president for corporate communications said: "During this time, air-conditioning and lights were available on board the Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) except for about 10 minutes when there was a cut in traction power for our staff to access the LRVs."
CNA reported that members of staff continued to remain in contact with passengers during the time the trains were on the tracks.

SBS Transit announced in a tweet that at 6:08am, both Sengkang and Punggol LRT lines were down due to a system fault.

However, it provided free bridging and regular bus services to commuters affected by the disruption.

At 7:07am, SBS Transit tweeted that services on Punggol LRT had resumed but the Sengkang LRT was still down.

SBS Transit said that it notified the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) of the service disruption.
No students were affected during the disruption.
Students going for exams should approach our station staff for assistance.

At 8:04am, it tweeted that services on the Sengkang LRT were back to normal.
