Typhoon Hagibis has finally made landfall in Japan.
It landed at around 7:00 pm in Shizuoka prefecture.
It is unclear just how much damage the typhoon will cause, but there's already been significant damage.
Bridges have been damaged, landslides have been reported, and two people were reportedly swept away by rushing tides.
One of them was luckily rescued, but the other is still missing.
Heavy rain emergency warnings have been issued in Tokyo, Shizuoka, Kanagawa, Saitama, Gunma, Yamanashi, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Fukushima, Miyagi and Niigata.
Lights
Another pressing issue for some in Japan, given the many power outages being reported, is having a source of light.

Which prompted one Japanese Twitter user to try his hand at coming up with a cheap and easy solution.
Here is his tweet.

Basically, the Twitter user took a water bottle and placed a smartphone under it, while turning on the lights on the smartphone.
But if you noticed, the light is a tad diffused, and not as strong as some might perhaps like.
The second image the user uploaded, and the far stronger one, is the same water bottle but with a little milk mixed inside.
The Twitter user urged those who might be in the middle of an outage due to the typhoon to utilise the method.
Perhaps because of the timeliness of the solution, the tweet went insanely viral, garnering over 8,000 retweets in less than three hours.
Another user chimed in and said that placing a transparent plastic bag over the bottle will increase the brightness even more.
Nifty.
