Heavy traffic since 6:15am

And it seems like the traffic has been heavy since the morning.

At 6:15am, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) posted on their Facebook page that delays are to be expected due to heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint.

At 8:20am, another statement reminded all that there was heavy departure traffic due to backflow of traffic from Malaysia at Woodlands Checkpoint.

Congested traffic expected by JB immigrations

On Oct. 25, the Johor Immigration Department issued a media statement to prepare for the upcoming Deepavali long weekend.

As heavy traffic is to be expected at both Malaysia and Singapore checkpoints, all immigration counters are said to be opened to ensure the smooth journey for travellers to and fro Singapore.

Here's a translation of the media statement:

The Johor Immigration Department (JIM) has taken proactive steps to have an action plan for the congested traffic that is expected to happen at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex following the upcoming Deepavali celebrations this Oct. 27, 2019.

Heavy traffic is expected to happen at the checkpoints of both countries from Oct. 25 to 28, 2019.

JIM will ensure that the immigration system at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex will run smoothly without any disruptions. All counters will be opened to ensure a smooth journey for travellers. The redeployment from different areas will also be done to help the inspection and security operations at the checkpoint. JIM would also like to announce the opening of the counter route at the entry zone of Sultan Abu Bakar Complex from Oct. 24 to Oct. 29, 2019.

Happy holidays and good luck.
