7-Eleven Japan sells giant pearl with milk tea cream filling for S$1.60

7-Eleven Japan jumps on trends faster than you can ask "how high?":

And to further evolve the bubble tea trend, the convenience store is now selling a giant pearl-shaped milk tea daifuku.

For the uninitiated, daifuku is a Japanese confection consisting of mochi, usually stuffed with red bean paste.

Although less firm, it has a soft, chewy texture similar to pearls.

Here are some photos of the milk tea daifuku, which features a thin mochi layer with milk tea cream on the inside.
