A separate 15-second video posted on Facebook showed fireworks launched from an open space in front of some buildings.

However, it is not clear if this was the same incident depicted in the other video.

Fireworks have been banned in Singapore since 1972, due to public safety concerns.

Certain events these days do feature fireworks, but only after permission has been granted as a result of adopting appropriate safety measures.
