Devotee falls into fire pit at Sri Mariamman Temple in Chinatown

He's in stable condition now.

A devotee tripped and fell into a fire pit at the Sri Mariamman Temple in Chinatown on Sunday (Oct. 20).

The devotee was said to be fulfilling his vows when the incident happened, according to a joint statement from the Hindu Endowments Board (HED) and Sri Mariamman Temple on Tuesday (Oct. 22).

He was quickly rescued and sent to Singapore General Hospital by the temple's medical team.

The devotee is now in stable condition.

Two rescuers also sustained injuries during the incident but they are recovering well.

No further details were revealed.
