Here's some good news for cyclists.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be repurposing two roadside parking lots along Jiak Chuan Road into bicycle parking lots.
By end November, these two parking lots will become bicycle lots for 20 bicycles.
LTA will trial this first 20 bicycle lots before rolling it out to more locations in central Singapore next year.
Central Area cycling network
This is part of an initiative to develop the cycling path network in central Singapore.
This Central Area cycling network will radiate from the bicycle-friendly Bencoolen Street (Singapore's first transit priority corridor) northwards to the North-South Corridor.
It will also connect cyclists to the Queenstown cycling route in the west, the Rail Corridor in the south, East Coast Park, and Marina Bay.
As part of this development, more vehicle lanes will be turned into sidewalks. Shared bicycle and walking paths will also one Coleman Street and Armenian Street.
