From Oct. 1, Ryde users will be able to get carpool and ride-hailing services with Trans-Cab taxis.
The homegrown ride-hailing company has teamed up with Trans-Cab to add 3,000 taxis to their platform.
Ryde is the first ride-hailing platform to allow a major taxi fleet to access private hire and carpooling jobs.
With this collaboration, Ryde users will have access to the second largest driver fleet in Singapore. The 25,000 strong fleet will consist of private cars, private-hire cars, and taxis.
Trans-Cab taxi drivers will be able to provide both RydeX (ride-hailing) and RydePOOL (carpooling) services.
What this means for users and drivers
A larger fleet means more driver supply and in turn, faster bookings and less waiting time for Ryde users.
Trans-Cab taxi drivers can look forward to more income as they can now take on more than just street-hail jobs.
Ryde has a flexible system which allows drivers to pick jobs (both on-demand and advance bookings) that suit their driving schedule.
For Trans-Cab drivers, this flexibility allows them to continue picking up street-hail jobs while earning extra money with Ryde.
