Singaporeans can finally enjoy a good night's sleep on Sep. 24.

Thundery showers on Sep. 24

Thundery showers at various parts of Singapore in the evening brought about much-needed cool weather.

By midnight, northern and eastern Singapore hit 26°C after a downpour at around 10:30pm.

The good news is that Singaporeans can look forward to more thundery showers this week:

If you are wondering if the rain was due to cloud seeding by the government, the answer is no.

Too small for effective cloud seeding

According to the National Environment Agency, the agency does not conduct cloud seeding to induce man-made rain to disperse the haze.

Cloud seeding is the process of artificially implanting clouds with suitable chemicals.

This method is not really effective during dry seasons due to the lack of suitable clouds.

Being a small island state, this means that even if cloud seeding is possible, the rain might not fall directly over Singapore due to wind conditions.

Rain is also a temporary relief as the haze will persist in Singapore.

This is due to prevailing winds that will continue to blow the haze from the forest fires that continue to burn in Indonesia.
