On June 21, 2017, Muhammad Nur Haiqel Shazali, 14, saw a 20-year-old woman enter a toilet at Anchorvale Community Club.

Followed woman into toilet

The teenager followed the woman in and used his phone to record a video of her relieving herself.

According to The New Paper, the victim saw what he was doing and hit his hand against the cubicle door.

She then proceeded to scream while he fled.

However, he didn't get off scot-free.

Turned son in to police

About three hours after the incident, the victim filed a report at Sengkang Neighbour Police Centre.

In a bid to appeal for more information, the police posted surveillance photos of Haiqel fleeing the scene.

After Haiqel's father saw the photos online, he turned his son in to the police himself.

Investigations revealed that he was filming the woman to know what the victim was doing in the toilet.

Stole vodka from Sheng Siong

On a separate incident, Haiqel was also charged with theft on June 6.

The 16-year-old was caught stealing a bottle of vodka from a Sheng Siong supermarket outlet in Anchorvale Road.

He drank the beverage at the foot of a nearby block before he discarded the bottle.

He has, however, made full restitution of S$29 for that.

21 months' split probation

On Sep. 26, Haiqel was given 21 months' split probation after he pleaded guilty to one charge each of insulting the modesty of a woman and theft-in-dwelling.

Part of his probation includes having to reside at the Singapore Boys' Hostel for a period of 12 months.

His parents have also been bonded for S$5,000 to ensure his good behaviour after Deputy Public Prosecutor Gabriel Lim noted their son's risk-taking behaviour and their ineffective parenting skills.
