Singapore is the most connected air hub in the Asia Pacific region, and ninth worldwide in international connectivity.

According to the OAG's Megahubs Index 2019, released on Sep. 23, Singapore held on to its ranking for the second year in a row.

Hong Kong second

OAG is based in the UK, and bills itself as the world's longest-standing provider of travel information.

According to the same index, Hong Kong is the second-most connected hub in the Asia Pacific.

This was due to a 1.5 per cent increase in international connections.

It helped improve Hong Kong's ranking from 13th to 10th in the region.

Meanwhile Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia ranked first in the Low Cost Carrier (LCC) category.

The Malaysian airline AirAsia is the most dominant LCC, with 41 per cent of all LCC flights.
