S'pore police car in yellow box almost hits car, both reverse & drive forward at same time hitting each other

From close shave to 'Oh no' in two seconds.

A police car and a civilian saloon car had a close shave as they almost collided in Singapore.

But that close shave then turned into what is perhaps the strangest and funniest accident ever recorded on dashcam this year, and possibly the next five years.

The incident took place in a yellow box on West Coast Highway, right outside McDonald's West Coast Park:

The video was shared to Facebook on Sep. 28, 2019, just before 9pm:

The video appeared to have been taken from a truck, as the camera's vantage point suggests the vehicle is a rather large one.

Close shave -- not

The voice caught on camera could be heard exclaiming loudly when the first near-collision occurred between both cars.

Hilarity then ensued when both cars reversed to undo the near-miss, only to proceed forward at the same time, resulting in them banging into each other for real.

This was despite the police driver gesticulating to be given the right of way when moving slowly inside the yellow box.

Reactions

The comments section of the video were quick to skewer both parties and point out that both sides were at fault for assuming they each had the right of way, especially when giving way should have been paramount.

This was so as the vehicle doing the video recording was likely a huge truck that obscured the view of police car and the oncoming car on the right-most lane.

It also did not help that the police car was coming out of a minor road to join a major road, while requesting the right of way.

However, for the record, the police car moved forward only after the other car had proceeded forward.

In other words, the police car should have waited.
