Japan is the first Asian country to hold the Rugby World Cup.

Rugby World Cup 2019

The 2019 Rugby world cup is the 9th world cup that will be held from Sep. 20, 2019 - Nov. 2, 2019. Japan defeated Russia on the opening day with a score of 30-10.

By hosting an international event of such scale, one would expect an influx of fans from different parts of the world.

Maybe resulting in jovial scene like such:

However, it seems that some fans brought their fervour and cheer beyond the stadiums, and quickly became the antithesis of Japanese etiquette.

Twitter user @nontage uploaded a video on Sep. 21 with the caption, "In the Keio line train cabin now ???"

In this video, a group of international rugby fans can be seen doing a mini crowd surfing on the train.

The user followed up with another tweet, describing their own experience on the train:

"Initially, I thought it was amusing. However, it slowly escalated, and they started to bump into people who were not part of their group (other commuters)?. His foot hit my camera, and that made my camera lens fly. I had to change to another train cabin."

@nontage further explained in a blogpost that the crowd surfers were actually drunken fans from France, who boarded the Keio line after France won against Argentina at 23 - 21.

In response to the crowd surfing video, another Twitter user uploaded a video showing a group of people hurling a flag in the air.

"There were also foreigners who threw a flag away."

Japanese react

The crowd surfing video garnered over 13,8000 retweets and 600 comments five days.

Some of them were concerned about having too many foreigners in Japan.

"This was what happened on the Hanshin electric railway when the Hanshin Tigers (professional baseball team based in Hyogo, Japan) won"

Amongst all the chatters, there was also someone who was more concerned about the poster's safety.

"Anyways, I'm glad that nothing happened to the person who recorded the video."
