Update on Sep. 25, 2019: The eatery has finalised its menu to 12 dishes instead of 18.

A new state-of-the-art concept restaurant at Frasers Tower has just been launched by tech start-up EPIC Food & Beverage.

The 90-seater restaurant goes by the name Hawkee, meaning 'curious' in Hokkien.

Singapore's first robotic restaurant

Jaromel Gee, the founder of the restaurant, came up with the idea of Hawkee after seeing a video on robotic restaurants in China.

He saw Hawkee as an opportunity to not only support hawker culture in Singapore, but to also sustain it with the help of robotic cooking and artificial intelligence.

All the robots in Hawkee are assembled in Singapore and have been engineered to retain the wok hei of the dishes they cook.

Wok hei, or "breath of the wok", is the charred aroma that accumulates with each dish that is cooked. A smoky flavour is then imparted to each dish.

Dishes available

There are 18 menu items at Hawkee, and each dish will only take five minutes to prepare.

Some dishes to look forward to include Hokkien Mee (S$6), Char Kway Teow (S$6) and Mala Xiang Guo (S$8.90 - S$18.90).
