The Orchard Towers case suspect who went on the run and missed his court hearing was re-arrested on Thursday (Sep. 26) and now faces a new rioting charge.

Tan Hong Sheng, 22, one of the Orchard Towers seven initially charged with the murder of Satheesh Noel Gobidass, earlier had his charge reduced to consorting with a person in possession of an offensive weapon, but jumped bail when he was due to show up in court for a mention of his case in August.

Charged with rioting

According to Tan's defence lawyer Josephus Tan, he was taken back to court on Friday, Sep. 27, and charged with a separate case of rioting at Magazine Road.

A video of the riot was uploaded onto Facebook on Aug. 9, 2019:

Tan is now remanded for further investigation into this incident.

His case has been adjourned till Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, the other two suspects who are currently out on bail — Loo Boon Chong, 25, and Chan Jia Xing, 26 — will be back in court on Oct. 10.
