The body of a newborn baby boy was found in a toilet bowl at Kuantan Sentral Bus Terminal on Sep. 23 at 9am.

Toilet wouldn't flush & contained bloody water

The discovery was made by a cleaner who saw that the toilet bowl was clogged with bloody water.

The cleaner alerted 54-year-old taxi driver Wan Subhi Wan Jusoh and his three friends who were chatting nearby.

They tried flushing the toilet, but the bloody water kept spilling out.

Wan Subhi told Bernama:

"At first, we thought someone threw a sanitary pad, but upon checking, we saw an umbilical cord. One of us used a wire to remove the umbilical cord. Even after removing the cord, the toilet was still clogged. We suspected there must be a baby trapped since there was an umbilical cord and we contacted the police."

Kuantan district police chief ACP Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said a fully-formed premature baby was found in the toilet, which has been closed to the public since Sep. 19 for maintenance and upgrading purposes.

CCTV footage at the bus terminal showed a woman in black entering the toilet at 5.58am with a luggage bag and coming out half an hour later wearing a baju kurung.

ACP Mohamad Noor confirmed that the woman in the footage is the main suspect in this case.

The police are tracking down the woman and urged anyone with information to come forward, especially the taxi driver who had given the woman a ride.

The remains of the baby were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of the deceased baby, which carries the penalty of a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both.
