Singaporeans who use disposable contact lenses, here's something you should take note of.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) of the United Kingdom has issued an urgent notice to recall batches of 1-day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism contact lenses last week (Sep. 26, 2019).

Contaminated with rogue particles

The notice urged members of the public to check their contact lenses as the contaminated batches have particles on lenses or in their blister solutions.

According to the notice, contaminants can cause eye redness and discomfort or even damage the surface of the eye.

Johnson & Johnson, makers of the Acuvue brand, initiated the product recall and has reached out to opticians and optometrists to take note of the affected products.

While a low level of stock of the 1-day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism contact lenses was reportedly affected, consumers are still urged to check their purchases and return them to their suppliers.

There have been no reports of users suffering serious damages as of the date of news release.

Affected batches of contact lenses

Johnson & Johnson has published the lot numbers of the affected contact lenses online and consumers are urged to check against the list to ensure their contact lenses are safe for use.

The lot numbers are displayed on the back or side of the carton and on the foil cover of the lenses.

The master lot numbers affected are 395749, 395750, and 395751.
