S$9.80 charcoal-grilled unagi hitsumabushi now available at Bugis+, possibly cheapest in S’pore

Despite its relatively steep price, Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant remains a popular option among Singaporeans.

But UnaUna, a unagi speciality restaurant that has just opened in Bugis+, looks like a fierce competitor.

Three sizes

For one, their charcoal-grilled unagi hitsumabushi starts from S$9.80.

This would usually cost around S$25 – S$35 in other restaurants.

If you’re not familiar with it, charcoal-grilled unagi hitsumabushi is chopped grilled eel on rice that can be enjoyed three ways:

  1. By itself.
  2. With condiments such as nori, wasabi, and spring onions.
  3. With clear dashi added to the mix.

At UnaUna, the unagi is grilled twice over controlled temperatures and with an in-house sauce.

If you would like a bigger serving, a regular bowl costs S$14.80, while a double portion is S$19.80.

Besides hitsumabushi, UnaUna also sells sashimi, salad, grilled items, and sashimi maze don.

From now till August 31, the eatery is having a 50 per cent off for the second dish ordered (selected dishes only).
