The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore and Tiong Market market have partnered up for a "Pay with plastic" initiative.

On September 15, from 8am to 6pm, customers will be able to exchange (rinsed) plastic bottles for food coupons worth 50 cents each.

Here's how to do it:

Step 1: Collect used plastic bottles at home and rinse them

Step 2: Exchange them for for food coupons (worth 50 cents each) at the WWF booth at Tiong Bahru market

Step 3: Use your coupons

You can get an additional coupon worth S$1 if you bring a reusable container.

However, do note that each person can only redeem up to S$5 worth of coupons, and there will be 1,000 coupons up for grabs per hour.

All collected plastic bottles will be sent for recycling.
