Now, it's no secret that Singaporeans have quite the affinity for Bangkok.

So, if you want to shake your travelling patterns up by going for a cheaper, but way longer, rail trip, this is the travelling pattern for you.

There's a direct train from Padang Besar, which is near the border between Thailand and Malaysia.

Adult tickets

- Lower bunk: 960 Baht (S$43)

- Upper bunk: 860 Baht (S$38)

Child tickets

- Lower bunk: 780 Baht (S$35)

- Upper bunk: 690 Baht (S$31)
