There are many ways you can do a part to prevent climate change.

One way is to eat less meat.

Eating less meat helps to save the Earth

According to the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), plant-based and sustainably sourced food can reduce up to 8.0 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide a year.

Carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gases that trap heat in the air, leading to global warming.

Significant players that can make a difference in reducing that number are big multinational companies like fast-food chain KFC.

And fortunately, they are doing something about it.

Launch of plant-based fried 'chicken'

KFC announced on Monday (Aug. 26) that they will be partnering Beyond Meat to produce the first plant-based fried mock-chicken called Beyond Fried Chicken.

Beyond Meat is a plant-based meat producer based in Los Angeles, U.S..

Beyond Fried Chicken will be available in Atlanta from Tuesday onwards (Aug. 27) for a limited time period.

It will come in nuggets and boneless fried chicken forms, priced between USD1.99 (S$2.77) and USD12 (S$16.68).

From this test trial, KFC may consider launching plant-based nation-wide in the future.

Psst, can come to Singapore too.
