Surprising news: George Clooney's sister-in-law is facing drink-driving without license charges in Singapore.

Even more surprising news: George Clooney's sister-in-law is a Singaporean Permanent Resident.

Tala Alamuddin Le Tallec, who is Hollywood legend George Clooney's sister-in-law, is facing multiple driving-related charges in Singapore.

Le Tallec is the older sister of Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer who married the American actor in 2014.

Drink-driving without license and consent

The 47-year-old was caught on May 14, 2019 for allegedly having 95 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, while driving along Holland Road at 2.30am, according to The Straits Times.

Le Tallec had also supposedly been driving without a license or an insurance policy against third-party risks.

She also allegedly did not have the consent of the vehicle's owner, Today and Yahoo! News reported.

Repeat offender

This is not the first time Le Tallec has been charged with drink-drinking in Singapore.

She was previously convicted on April 15, 2013.

Should she be found guilty of a repeat offence, she can face a term of imprisonment of up to one year, and a fine of between S$3,000 to S$10,000.

As for driving without a license, Le Tallec faces a fine of up to S$1,000 or up to three months’ jail for first-time offenders.

For driving without an insurance policy, Le Tallec faces a fine of up to S$1,000 and three months' jail.

And for driving without the vehicle owner's consent, she faces a fine of up to S$1,000 or three months' jail.

Additionally, Le Tallec may also face a ban from holding or obtaining a driver's license for at least 12 months, along with an even longer ban on driving.

Granted permission to travel to Bali for work

Le Tallec is currently out on S$20,000 bail.

She was granted permission by the court on Aug. 15 to travel to Bali for work between Aug. 23 and Sept. 3.

She owns a fashion brand, Totally Tala, and previously worked as an events manager.

Today reported that she had also been previously granted permission to fly to Italy and the UK for work from July 13 to Aug. 5.
