4 conveyed to hospital after fire breaks out in Jurong West HDB flat

The fire was put out with a water jet.

A fire broke out at Yung Loh Road on Aug. 18 night.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to the fire in a fifth floor unit of a HDB block at about 7.45pm.

In a statement, SCDF shared that the fire involved the contents of the unit's living room and was extinguished using a water jet.

A loud explosion was also apparently heard by passers-by and nearby residents.

Woman rescued from kitchen ledge

Four persons were conveyed to Singapore General Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

This included a woman who was rescued from the kitchen ledge by SCDF firefighters.

The cause of fire is still under investigation.

Here's the full statement:

"SCDF responded to a fire at a 5th floor unit of Blk 158 Yung Loh Rd at about 7:45pm. The fire which involved the contents of the living room was extinguished by SCDF using a water jet. Four persons were conveyed to SGH and NTFGH, including a woman who was rescued from the kitchen ledge by SCDF firefighters. The cause of fire is under investigation."
