A 73-year-old man has died after getting hit in the head by a glass bottle, The Straits Times reported.

The bottle was believed to have been thrown down from the 35-storey Spottiswoode 18 condominium in Spottiswoode Park.

The victim, Nasiari Sunee, a delivery man by profession, was at the condo for a housewarming party with his family on Aug. 18 when the incident occurred.

At BBQ pit area

Speaking to ST, Nasiari's children said that their father had just sat down at the BBQ pit area when he was hit.

His oldest child told ST that they heard two "thuds" before realising that their father was on the ground and bleeding from the head.

They then saw the glass bottle on the table.

Nasiari's wife, who was sitting next to him, sustained bruises when the bottle reportedly ricocheted and hit her.

The elderly man was taken to Singapore General Hospital at 8:35pm.

However, his heart stopped stopped thrice during treatment, according to ST.

The next morning, Nasiari died around 9am, after his blood pressure plunged.

Nasiari's burial was held on Aug. 20, 2019.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Nephew writes Facebook post

On Aug. 21, Nasiari's nephew wrote a Facebook post on the case, calling the culprit an " irresponsible person" and "murderer".

He also said that even if justice was meted out, Nasiari is a father figure who could never be replaced.

He described the heart-wrenching moments when Nasiari's heartbeat stopped in the ICU, and how the family had to relive the incident over and over again during the course of investigation.
