The magazine piece goes on to list the reasons why these girls, who are mostly fresh out of junior college, decided to give their lives to the military industrial complex (for patriotism as no one mentioned money), what they miss most when they signed on (cat and boyfriend) and how they are coping (girls, apparently, can't strip and assemble rifles as well as the boys).

This recruit ran 15 mins 12 sec for her 2.4km run, just 12s shy of full marks for this IPPT station. That's way faster than a lot of guys I know.

To take their minds off the physical fatigue, the recruits even sang songs such as Counting Stars by One Republic and Home by Kit Chan, on top of the usual Army songs, in order to motivate one another.

Yo dawg, that was pitch perfect, dawg.
